I think I can speak for all of us when I say the wait for the next GTR’s arrival is well overdue.  The current generation has been a favorite for millions of people, but with new super cars emerging every year and with new radical designs it leaves us wondering, what does Nissan have up its’ sleeves for the next gen “Godzilla.”  Well as that time gets closer we begin to see the trickle of news of what we might have in store.

According to Nissan’s CEO, Carlos Ghosn, GTR sales have begun to fall all over the world and has now given the green light to get this new GTR finished.  Before the GTR was not created with looks in mind.  This was a purpose built scud missile for the road, however with this new generation the GTR Engineering Team is taking looks into a much larger account.   Stating that it will be designed similarly to the 2020 Nissan Concept Vision Gran Turismo (shown below) and incorporate lots of Carbon Fiber construction.  A little radical to say the least for a road car, the finished product will be toned down a bit.

In order to keep costs low and profits high, Nissan is reusing the current twin turbo 3.8L V-6 power plant and AWD power train.  However, this new layout is now going to incorporate a hybrid system with an electric motor.   If we know anything about making a super car a hybrid it is MORE POWER!  With an estimated 737 lb-ft, Nissan is now stuck redesigning the transmission to handle the extra output.   Insiders are speculating that the final horsepower output will be around 650, with about 134 hp coming from the electric motor, making a total of 784 hp!
